The World

Brastow

Brastow was once a quiet settlement on the western edge of the kingdom. It is quiet still, but not by choice. When the orc advance reached the river, the decision was made to break the west bridge. No army came to help. No word from the king followed.

Brastow has been on its own ever since. Cut off from the kingdom it once served, surviving day by day behind walls that were never meant to hold against what now waits beyond them.

King Corvin's Right Hand

Sir Baldwin

King Corvin's right hand does not sit in a throne room. He sits in Brastow, stranded like everyone else, doing what he was trained to do: keeping order, keeping hope, keeping people alive. Sir Baldwin carries the weight of the crown's authority in a place the crown can no longer reach. He has not given up. He is not sure he is allowed to.

Nothing enters Brastow. Nothing leaves. Not without Sgt. Brant knowing about it. He has stood at that gate through cold nights and worse mornings. He intends to keep standing there.

The Enemy

The Orcs

They came in numbers no one had planned for. They take what they find: food, tools, ground, without negotiation and without restraint. By all accounts, Brastow should already be gone. And yet the final push never comes. Something holds them back. Something they haven't named, maybe can't name. The orcs are afraid. Of what, nobody in Brastow knows. But they've learned to be grateful for it.
